Like moths to a flame, bad kids seem to flock to Gallery Place/Chinatown...
Ok, so I could'nt be the only person thinking this, but what the hell is the attraction of Gallery Place/Chinatown to bad-ass kids? I cannot honestly recall a time that I've been down there and haven't seen teenage kids acting a straight fool. This past Saturday, I was headed to Redline the new sports bar, formerly known as IndieBleu. The kids were out in full force cutting up! What's worse is that most of the behavior is showcased by young females! They're worse than the boys. They run around screaming, cursing, and doing the "dougie" in the middle of pedestrian traffic. All the while doing whatever they can to disrespect anyone who walks past,as well as themselves. These kids haven't attended the Wizard's game, and can't get into 95% of the bars/restaurants in the area. So why are they there? There is always a police car posted up in front of McDonald's, but never any cops. DC really needs to look at this nuisance and address it. The bad part about it is the tourists who come out and see this and think that it's reflective of the rest of "us" black people. I really think that a curfew needs to be enforced so that these kids go elsewhere-I guess that's the problem though;the kids will just go somewhere else and cut-up. Obviously, their parents could care less. Growing up, acting foolish was something that you really had to give careful thought to before doing it. There was always a valid fear that your behaviors would somehow get reported back to your parents. Kids really don't seem to have this fear any longer. In the end, I guess the problems at Gallery Place are a microcosm of what's going on within our a lot of our homes right now. After all as a child,if you won't give me the attention that I need and require, then I guess I'll do what it takes to get it. Even if that means acting like a straight fool.
